The Executive Committee will be pleased to receive nominations for the General Assembly's Vice President for 2009 - 2010 from District Associations, Congregations and from Affiliated Societies. The position consists of a two - year commitment by a person whom the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches honour for their leadership in the denomination by asking them to serve in this important role. The roles of Vice President include, being the President in training, to deputise for the President when required, to attend at least two EC meetings during the year, to become familiar with the work of the Commissions, to become more familiar with the wider Unitarian and Free Christian community by visits to districts and congregations and by attending national events, in consultation with the President and to undertake such duties as the President or the EC may require. Also, as Vice President you may be asked to attend funerals of ministers or prominent lay people as a representative of the General Assembly. According to convention, the 2009 - 2010 Vice President should be a lay person, as the succession passes from minister to lay person on alternate years. The nominations will be considered at the Executive Committee's meetings in September 2008. Please ensure that the person being nominated has agreed to stand and that the nomination is sent to me to arrive by Monday 1 September 2008. Yours truly, Steve Dick Chief Executive |
