Rediscovering the Bible - a monthly Bible reading Group
Meeting on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7pm, 11th March, 8th April, 13th May, 10th June 2013 A monthly bible–reading group has been meeting at Kensington since last November. In the sessions we simply read through the bible together, pausing to reflect, and share our own thoughts and feelings on what we read. We started with the Acts of the Apostles which we have now nearly finished. Our plan is to go back to the very beginning and tackle the Book of Genesis next. We were pleased to welcome eleven people to the first session and a core group have continued to gather each month since then. There has been a lot of laughter and fun in these sessions as well as exploration, discovery and learning. Contact Jane Blackall (jane@kensington-unitarians.org.uk) if you have any questions or just to say you–re planning to come along. The bible–reading group is open to all who share a spirit of goodwill and curiosity about discovering the text anew – no particular theology will be presumed – please bring along a bible (any translation you like) if you have one. This group is offered in conjunction with the Liberal Christian affinity group of the LDPA, and we hope to see friends from throughout the region at these meetings. |

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM AND RESPONSIBILITY 20 23 August 2013 You are invited to Horsham, West Sussex. The Horsham Unitarian Church began as a General Baptist Congregation in 1648. The early minister, Rev Matthew Caffyn, was imprisoned 5 times for preaching the gospel without a license. Only after his death could the congregation build a Meeting House which they did in 1721. It is now the 2nd oldest church building in Horsham. It is a fitting host for a conference on “Religious Freedom and Responsibility“. With other local churches, Horsham Unitarians invite you to an IARF Conference. The International Association for Religious Freedom supported by Horsham Interfaith Forum, will host a conference on RELIGIOUS FREEDOM AND RESPONSIBILITY in Horsham from 20th to 23rd August. The distinguished speakers and panellists are expected to include visitors from Israel, USA, Germany, Romania, India, The Netherlands and Japan as well as the UK, and will include Rev Chris Hudson MBE, Rt Rev Kieran Conry, Dr Marcus Braybrooke, Rev. Istvan Kovacs, Dr Shlomo Alon, Dr Yehuda Stolov, Professor Hal French, Sheikh M. Amin-Evans, Charanjit and Ajit Singh MBE, Dorothee Gehrmann, Dr Doris Hunter, Annelies Trenning, Advocate Rengapashyam and Dr. Dan McKanan. Book through the website of our Co-sponsor, the World Congress of Faiths.

Unitarian Association of Lay Ministry Annual Conference. Theme: Seasonal Services Quite often, you may be asked to take a service at a special time of year – Easter, Christmas, Harvest, Remembrance, Church Anniversary. Most folk have enough inspiration to put together a good service on one of these perennial topics once, but how do you do so a second, third or even fourth time?
Our Guest Speakers have long years of experience of this: The weekend begins on Friday with a buffet supper, and ends on Sunday with lunch after attending the Sunday service at Great Hucklow Unitarian Chapel. INCLUSIVE COST: Sharing a normal twin room – £102, Single occupancy of twin – £112, Sharing an en–suite room – £117, Single occupancy of en–suite room £127. |
