Elizabeth Gaskell Bi-centenary
All Unitarians are invited to attend the dedication of a pane of glass to Elizabeth Gaskell in the memorial window in
Poets' Corner in
Westminster Abbey on Saturday September 25th following the evensong service, which will start at 3.00pm.
The dedication ceremony will begin about 4pm.
There will be time to look round the Abbey free of charge before it closes at 5pm. This event has been arranged by the Gaskell
Society who have funded the cost of the design and installation of the window along with a one-off payment for its future maintenance.
The dedication will probably have the highest profile of the many events planned for the bi-centenary year.

Christmas Walkers and Hucklow Village Lights
Turning on the village lights is an annual event in the village, accompanied by entertainment.
As in many of the Derbyshire villages, along with the summer well-dressings, this is an event not to be missed.
If you enjoy walking there will be the opportunity for a group walk during the day.
If you prefer to visit Castleton or Bakewell to finish your Christmas shopping this would be an enjoyable option.
Or you might just like to relax in front of the open fire in the lounge!

Christmas at Hucklow
This successful weekend house-party is now in its third year. A lovely start to Christmas, there will be
carols in the lounge on the first evening followed by a Fete and Christmas dinner on the Saturday.
On Saturday evening there is also a welcome return of 'Flash in the Pan' who will be providing music for the Ceilidh.
For those who wish to, there will also be time for walking or sightseeing.
For those of you with only a few hours to spare, come along to the Fete on the Saturday 11th.
There will be all the usual stalls, lunches, afternoon, refreshments and 'maypole dancing' …
and as dusk falls the Christmas lights will light up the village. Fill a car with your friends and 'pop in'.
