2011 Meetings - Unitarians Celebrate Volunteers at Swansea

The Unitarian General Assembly Meetings in Swansea saw a celebration of Volunteers and of Welsh Unitarianism.

The Meetings, held from Friday 15th until Monday 18th April 2011 at the University of Swansea, saw over 300 Unitarians come together to worship and deliberate together and to learn from each other.

"Celebrating Our Volunteers" was the theme recognising that the Unitarian Movement locally and nationally depends upon the energy, enthusiasm and hard work of many individuals. To hear why three volunteers and some of our youth give so much:

The programme was full and diverse.

The Business Sessions saw consideration of the General Assembly's Annual Report and Accounts including those of the Nightingale Centre and the Ministerial Students Fund.

Unitarians affirmed their commitment to social justice by approving the following resolutions:

  • Support for destitute asylum seekers
  • Affirming the Charter for Compassion
  • Congratulating Amnesty International on its 50th Anniversary
