Stratford Unitarian and Free Christian Church

Stratford Unitarians

The Unitarian congregation in Stratford has a rich heritage and our values reflecxt this. From our experience we seek to discover truth through conscience, love through fellowship, and understanding through tolerance. We endeavour to be open to our local community while having a universal outlook. This is reflected in our worship.

Our Services

Worship services are held at 10.30am. Children and young people are welcomed at our inclusive worship services.

Stratford Unitarians

Our form of worship varies. We hold congregational services on a regular basis and have services led by members of the congregation. Julian Meek also supports our devotional life as an interfaith minister. We have a tradition of iniviting preachers from elsewhere at least once a month.

Weddings, same-sex blessings, namings and funerals are also available (contact Julian Meek).

Activities

  • Creative Group: This includes knitting, quiltmaking, crochet, embroidery and whatever crafts anyone wishes to bring to the group.
  • Meditation Group: A meditation group is forthcoming.

History

Our congregation was formed by Thomas Rix in 1857 and the church building was founded in 1869. There has been continual worship on the site from that date until 2006. Development of our new church building on the old church site began in 2006. We moved into the new building in autumn 2007.
