GA OPPOSES WAR ON IRAQ WITHOUT EXPLICIT UN MANDATE (March 2003)

The following statement has been issued by the President, Vice President and General Secretary of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches on Wednesday 12 March 2003.

' This General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches expresses its concern that the process of taking war to Iraq does not yet have the full support of the United Nations Security Council.

We call upon HM Government to observe the terms of Resolution 1441 and not to take military action unless authorised by an appropriate further Resolution of the United Nations Security Council.
