Incorporating the 'Christian Life' and the 'Unitarian Herald', it was established in 1842 and is the oldest Nonconformist journal still publishing in Britain. It is generally recognized as "The Unitarian and Free Christian Paper", standing for civil and religious liberty, and for honest inquiry in matters of faith - in short, for the progressive spirit in religion which it seeks to promote by means of frank yet constructive and courteous discussion. Published fortnightly.
